Ended up getting Tranquil!Jowan in Criseyde's worldstate and, firstly, 😭😭😭

Secondly. This does open up a very fun possibility for a Lilit/Jowan AU where Jowan is the Tranquil one instead of Lilit. Given that I decided ages ago that Lilit never got transferred to Ferelden in this timeline, and that the Circle did get annulled so they're gonna need to get more mages in from somewhere.

Thirdly. As much as I was toying with the idea of Cris helping Jowan escape in a rare moment of rebellion against the Circle. This works much better with where she's going. In spite of everything, Jowan ended up getting made Tranquil anyway. Nothing she did mattered. Maybe that was what was meant to happen all along.

Gee, Faust, how come your brain let you write TWO fic updates?

FIC ONE: A long-awaited new chapter for my longfic, The Path of Aching Blood. In which corpses storm Redcliffe, Alistair and Morrigan have a talk about empathy, and Ghila meets an old friend. Female Mahariel/Morrigan.

FIC TWO: Treatise on Still Water, a short story about selfhood, oppression, and love. Lilit Surana took the fall for Jowan - and finds Tranquility isn't quite what he expected. Male Surana/Jowan.

Once again trying to balance the competing (and totally arbitrary) logics of my DA worldstates. Rambling below the cut.

So my prospective timelines look a little like this (canon/primary worldstate in bold):

Ghila Mahariel (/Morrigan) -> Threnody Hawke (/Fenris) -> Maryam Trevelyan (/?)

Lilit Surana (/?) -> Threnody Hawke (/Fenris) -> Enaste Lavellan (/?)

Shan Brosca (/Alistair) -> Althea Hawke (/Isabela/Merrill) -> ???

Jocasta Tabris (/?) -> Clarity Hawke (/Sebastian) -> ???

And it's killing me because I could SO EASILY figure out a way to have all the DA:O and DA2 romances represented - just gotta divvy up Zev and Leliana between Lilit and Jocasta and slot an Andersmancer in there. Except I'm never going to cover all romances in DA:I because there are Simply Too Many Of Them and DA:I is already way too big a game for me. So. :/ (Although the benefit to having four timelines is I can cover all the DA:I race options, at least.) And then part of me wants to have Threnody for the first two because Ghila and Lilit (technically) share a timeline, as do Maryam and Enaste (probably. haven't worked out all the details yet). So it feels odd to have a Completely Different Person for Champion of Kirkwall in there? I'm already looking at all the prospective hours of gameplay this is and how little time I have for gaming/fandom rn... yeesh. ....at times I am quite annoyed by my Gotta Catch Em All approach to DA origins/romances 😔
